  • S Highway 22
    Killdeer, ND 10101

  • MHA Nation Tribal Park is located in the Badlands of western North Dakota. The Visitors Center is located approximately 42 miles Southeast of New Town, ND, and 17 miles North of Killdeer, ND, on Highway 22.

Land located on the east side of Hwy 22 can be accessed from the north via existing dirt road on property managed by the Army Corps of Engineers. From the South side, land access involves entering on foot from Little Missouri State Park either by parking on 103rd Avenue NW near the Little Missouri State Park Entrance Monument Sign or by parking at an established park near a trailhead, and hiking on state park trails until crossing onto MHA land.

Land located on west side of Hwy 22 can be accessed from the north via existing dirt road that snakes across both private property and Army Corps of Engineers land. This road provides more thoroughly established (and eroded) and accesses more deeply into the MHA land than the access road on the east side of Hwy 22. From the south, land access involves turning onto an unnamed gravel access road 0.8 miles south of 103rd Ave NW on Hwy 22. This road provides access to several oil wells, as well as the southern fence line that deliniates MHA land.

  • In winter, some or all park roads may be closed due to snow.

  • Cellular Access should not be depended upon in the park. Verizon and AT&T are somewhat reliable in the park (in higher ground locations).
